Yesterday, news was released that, according to a new directive from the General Staff of the Armed Forces, as of Azar 1402 (December 2023), the knowledge-based military service for individuals holding bachelor's degrees has been suspended.

The news is brief, but its impact on knowledge-based companies is horrifying!

With this directive, at least 500 knowledge-based companies will seriously suffer. This is because knowledge-based companies have invested financially and educationally in their specialized bachelor's degree personnel for one to two years, and their long-term plans are based on attracting these elite soldiers. The immediate elimination of the possibility of hiring these individuals will put these companies in a serious crisis amid the current difficult economic war.

On the other hand, about 600 specialists holding bachelor's degrees who qualify for knowledge-based military service have based their lives on this plan for years. They have earned the necessary points to obtain military service in these companies through their work in knowledge-based firms. With the cancellation of this law, most of these individuals do not even have the legal opportunity to participate in the entrance exam and must serve as regular soldiers, which is a great injustice to these young people and specialists.

It seems that a solution must be found, and if the issuance of such a decree is accurate, at the very least, knowledge-based military service should be exempted from this directive; because the number of knowledge-based military service positions for bachelor's degree holders is not more than a thousand per year and has a negligible impact on the total number of soldiers for the entire year.
