In a meeting with former ministers and vice presidents, Sheikh Hassan Rouhani said:

In the current situation, if someone cannot speak and express his opinion, is there freedom? IRIB is not in the hands of the nation, it is not in the hands of one faction or group, it is in the hands of one group, is there freedom? If there is no national sovereignty, there is no independence. If a minority faction is in power, there is no independence, because it is not national sovereignty. Until we solve this, independence and freedom will not be ensured.

Your Excellency, you held the executive power of the country for eight years and swore twice to be the guardian of the official religion, the system of the Islamic Republic and the constitution of the country.

The text of Article 175 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran:

In the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, freedom of expression and dissemination of ideas must be ensured in accordance with Islamic standards and the interests of the country.

The appointment and dismissal of the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting Organization (IRIB) is with the position of the Supreme Leader, and a council composed of representatives of the President, the Head of the Judiciary, and the Islamic Consultative Assembly (two each) will oversee this organization.

The policy and arrangement of the organization and its supervision are determined by law.
