نامه سرگشاده سید مصطفی تاجزاده از زندان به رهبر جمهوری اسلامی

‍In the Name of God,

To the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran,
Ayatollah Khamenei,

Greetings,

I am writing this letter after three months of unlawful detention in solitary confinement in Ward 2-A of Evin Prison, which is under the absolute control and jurisdiction of the Revolutionary Guards Intelligence. This letter is written with great difficulty, aiming to remind you once again of the arbitrary actions of the Revolutionary Guards’ agents.

As you are aware, on the evening of Friday, July 8, several agents of the Revolutionary Guards stormed my residence, arresting me in a manner that was not only illegal but seemed to be a display of the arbitrary behavior of this bullying organization.

Since that date, except for a few minor and unavoidable instances, none of my legal rights as a prisoner have been observed. Even a critical health condition that required hospitalization at Tehran Heart Center and emergency medical procedures did not change this practice, as I was returned to solitary confinement under unsuitable conditions against the doctors’ recommendations after angioplasty.

Overall, despite the court trial and sentencing, I am still deprived of the rights accorded to prisoners in similar situations. It appears that the Revolutionary Guards have no intention of transferring me to the general ward, and the agents of this security organization claim complete authority to violate laws and disregard regulations concerning me. They have deprived me of access to prisoners’ communication facilities, including radio, television, and prison newspapers, leaving me uninformed about both external and internal news.

Once again, I emphasize that the purpose of this letter is to highlight the continued deeply unlawful behavior of the Revolutionary Guards agents as judicial officers. If you were unaware of the imposed conditions on one of your critics, whose only “crime” is critiquing your performance and respectfully pointing out your mistakes in hopes of reform, it is expected that upon the publication of this letter and awareness of these conditions, you will issue an immediate and explicit order to rectify these legal violations. If these injustices and restrictions occur with your knowledge and approval, I express my grave concern to the people.

When someone who has proudly dedicated his life to the dignity of Iran and Iranians, with no crime other than critiquing the leader’s performance and pointing out mistakes respectfully for the hope of reform, is openly subjected to such legal violations, what happens to young people with no support or identity, and what is their fate in detention centers and during interrogations by Revolutionary Guards agents?

P.S.: Mustafa Tajzadeh’s Telegram channel notes: This letter was written under quarantine conditions, with Tajzadeh being unaware of recent unfortunate events and developments. It is hoped that a listening ear in the government will hear the voices of citizens’ protests and that the path to structural reforms and resolution of the country’s current crises will be opened.
