They had said that they would announce the end of the war.  Previously, [Jay] Garner [Executive Chairman of the Interim Coalition Government of Iraq] had announced the end of the Iraqi Baath regime at the meeting of heads of Iraqi groups held on the 66th anniversary of Saddam [Hussein]'s birth.  On that day, only in Tikrit, statements were made in favor of Saddam.
CNN reported that there was an armed attack on [Donald] Rumsfeld's [Secretary of Defense] trip to Iraq.  In Saudi Arabia, an American was injured by a bullet.  Mr. Sheikh Hassan Safar asked the Saudi government to remove many discriminations against Shia.  He used to be one of the fighters against the Saudi government and later joined them and returned to the country.
In Oman, an explosion occurred at the airport, killing and injuring several people.  It was announced that the explosion occurred due to the presence of a grenade in the suitcase of a journalist returning from Iraq.
There were several explosions today around Saddam's palace, where [Jay] Garner is based.  In Türkiye, most of the students who were buried under the rubble in the earthquake in the boarding school building have been gradually brought out;  The number of dead and alive has reached 180 and the number of injured has reached 500.
In the English local council elections, the Labor party suffered a heavy defeat and lost 760 seats.  Only 30% of people with the right to vote participated in the elections.  Observers attribute this failure to [Tony] Blair's cooperation with America in the war. 
In a meeting, the leaders of four countries, France, Germany, [Luxembourg] and Belgium, decided to establish a defense complex independent of NATO and the United States, which angered the United States, and if it is taken seriously, NATO may also be weakened.
Following the action of the people of Fallujah to chant Allahu Akbar on the rooftops, many Iraqi cities have joined this policy and chant Allahu Akbar on the rooftops at night.  American soldiers have said that this action weakens their morale.
