I went to the Majlis earlier than usual. Mr. Moradi, the Revolutionary Prosecutor of Rafsanjan, had come and asked for help because he had been dismissed. He believed that the influence of local rivals had played a role.

Half an hour before the open session, I studied the reports in my office. At the beginning of the session, the discussion on the parties bill continued and was completed. The credentials of Mr. Seyyed Hadi Khamenei, the representative of Fariman, were brought up and were approved without objection. Toward the end of the session, the general budget was brought up, which would take several days.

At noon, I discussed with the Prime Minister the unsatisfactory condition of the arrival hall for foreign passengers, where people were being kept waiting. I asked Mr. [Asadollah] Lajevardi for an explanation regarding several detainees.

Mr. [Mohammad-Sadegh] Haeri Shirazi had suggested that Mr. [Mohammad] Mousavi-Khoiniha deliver the speech before the Friday prayer sermon in his place. I spoke with Mr. Mousavi [Khoiniha], but he was not prepared to do so.

I spoke with Mr. Mousavi [Khoiniha] about the next Prime Minister. We leaned more toward Mr. Bahonar. In the afternoon, I spoke with officials of Iziran, a state-owned computer company belonging to the Ministry of Defense. They complained that the Informatics Council was preventing their self-sufficiency efforts. They provided useful information.

I spoke with a group of people who were complaining about the Chief of Police and the Minister of the Interior and were proposing that they be replaced. They did not have convincing arguments and left dissatisfied. A representative of the Islamic Association of the Ministry of Oil came and spoke at length about the Ministry of Oil being dominated by elements of the former regime. If this is true, the situation is bad; we decided to follow up on it.

They called by telephone about the Esfarayen project—which had been established for the Soviet Union to create heavy industries in Iran—and complained about opposition from the liberals.

I came home for iftar. I was alone. I had an opportunity to spend some time studying my Quranic notes on trials and hypocrisy for tomorrow's sermon.
