I went to bed very late at night, and even after suhoor, I did not get into a deep sleep. We had a public session, and the bill on political parties was under discussion. In the afternoon, we had a meeting of the Presiding Board. The agenda for next week is the budget. We discussed the situation of the families of the martyred members of the Majlis and decided that the Majlis would build two hundred residential houses for the representatives on land that had previously been purchased.

At the end of the day, I attended a meeting of the Central Council of the Islamic Republican Party at Dr. Bahonar’s office. We discussed completing the Party’s ranks after the martyrdom of our colleagues, as well as the presidential election and the parliamentary by-elections.

Colonel Namjou, the Imam’s representative on the Supreme Defense Council, mentioned, in the course of a discussion, violations by the Ministry of Defense in arms purchases and the possibility of the Defense Minister leaving his post. A Korean woman, Dr. Lee, an acupuncturist, had come and complained about the downgrading of the South Korean Embassy to the level of chargé d’affaires.

Engineer Vahabzadeh came and was distressed that his son, Hamid, who had worked in Mr. Bani-Sadr’s office and had been associated with the Mojahedin-e Khalq, had been arrested. He asked for help. He had been one of our companions from before the Revolution.

The wife of the martyred Dr. Beheshti came and spoke about the hardships of life after his death. He had left nothing for his family to inherit except the house and his pension.

The wife of the martyred Araghi and her son Amir came and spoke about Amir’s work and other matters. I had suhoor alone. Effat is weak and cannot fast. She woke up for my sake, prepared suhoor, and stayed awake with me so that I would not be alone. All the children have gone on a trip.
