and the Assembly of Experts respects this decision

The English-language newspaper Tehran Times, affiliated with the Islamic Propagation Organization, wrote that the Washington Post published an article on Friday that was full of baseless claims, including that Ayatollah Khamenei is ill and that his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, has been chosen as his successor by "elderly clerics." The claims of the article can be easily refuted.

As evidence for its claims, the Washington Post cited an article by Iran International, a well-known anti-Iran television channel funded by Israel that has a history of falsifying information about Iran and its officials. Moreover, a simple understanding of Iran's constitution suggests that the next leader is not elected by "older clerics" but by a parliament of Iranian elected figures every eight years.

The Supreme Leader's past statements and actions also indicate his opposition to his children entering politics, let alone succeeding him.

Ayatollah Mahmoud Mohammadi Iraqi, a member of the Assembly of Experts, has announced that the Supreme Leader has rejected the request of some members of the Assembly of Experts to consider one of his sons for future leadership responsibilities.

The Tehran Times newspaper has confirmed through its sources that Ayatollah Khamenei is still determined to oppose the succession of any of his sons, and that the Assembly of Experts respects this issue.
