فرمانده کل قوا با اختیاراتی فوق قانون

Following changes in the structure of the police force, the abbreviated title of this institution has been changed from NAJA (Law Enforcement Force of the Islamic Republic of Iran) to FARAJA (Command of the Law Enforcement of the Islamic Republic of Iran).

The police spokesperson has also mentioned that within the next year, names on police vehicles and equipment will be updated, and the title FARAJA will be installed.

Additionally, it has been noted that in the new changes, a national intelligence organization will be established, and the Cultural and Social Deputy will be upgraded. This means that the police intelligence and public security divisions will effectively be split into two separate entities: the intelligence organization and the public security police.

Since the orders and decrees of the Commander-in-Chief take precedence over the law, it appears that there was no need to amend the law on the formation of the police force as approved by the Islamic Consultative Assembly.

Previously, the police force had a lower organizational status compared to the army and the Revolutionary Guards. With its transformation into a command structure, it is now on par with the army and the Revolutionary Guards, meaning the Commander of the Police Force is now on the same level as the commanders of the army and the Revolutionary Guards.

The position of the Commander of the Police Force was previously considered equivalent to that of government ministers, and with this change, it is now considered equivalent to the First Vice President.

However, while the commanders of the Revolutionary Guards and the army, namely Salami and Mousavi, hold the rank of Major General, the current Commander of the Police Force, Esmaili, holds the rank of Brigadier General.

What might be the reason for this development? Are the underlying scenarios related to post-leadership transitions?

Given Ayatollah Khamenei's extra-legal authority, justified by Article 57 of the Constitution (absolute guardianship), is it not time for significant changes to be initiated? Instead of merely performing surgery on the ailing economy, should the governance system be reformed and improved for the benefit of the people?

A surgery that only Ayatollah Khamenei can perform, with a specialist in organ transplants or donations to follow him.
