The Minister of Science apologized to the public following the death of a Tehran University student/Simaei: During last night's student gathering in the university's dormitory, we did not have any students arrested.

Hossein Simaei Sarraf, today, Saturday, attended the meeting of the Board of Directors of the University of Tehran to follow up on the death of a business management undergraduate student at the University of Tehran. Regarding the death of a business management undergraduate student at this university, he stated: "We are mourning the bitter incident and I am very sorry that you are the Minister of Science and hear the news of the murder of one of the students."

He added: "I was on a business trip to Jeddah for a meeting. After hearing this news, I immediately returned to Tehran and went to the scene of the incident last night."

Simaei Sarraf, while offering condolences to the student's family, said that a representative of the Ministry of Science will attend his memorial service (at the Khaleghi family's residence).

He said: "I apologize on behalf of all the agencies that were at fault in this incident, and in this regard, the President issued a decree ordering me to follow up; according to the President's decree, we will not allow the university incident to be dragged out, and if they want to spread the incident outside and if anyone wants to enter arbitrarily, we will deal with it seriously and we will not tolerate any appeasement."

Simaei emphasized: "I am a refuge for students; the Intelligence Department has ordered the investigation of the matter, and the judicial system has also opened a special case to investigate the matter, and the dormitory management has resigned in addition to apologizing to the family and the people of Iran."
