Azin Movahed: My dismissal from service has been finalized

Azin Movahed, a dismissed professor from the University of Tehran:

"When the 2022 protests led to a climate of repression and fabricated cases against students, when they were threatened and intimidated in disciplinary committees and barred from registering and attending classes, I repeatedly stood by them outside the disciplinary committees, refusing to leave them alone.

Last week, I was informed by phone that the initial ruling of six months of temporary suspension, issued on November 4, 2023, and pending final confirmation for a long time, has finally been approved. The final verdict will be executed, meaning I will not return to the university until April 2025.

Over the past year, the University of Tehran has twice tried to reinstate me in the classroom, but they paid no attention to the false case that the university's security office had filed against me in the Academic Disciplinary Committee. They simply didn’t want to acknowledge it. They preferred to hide the issue, telling me to just go back to teaching.

Suspension means not being in the classroom, not a cut in salary. During the previous administration, the university violated the regulations and unlawfully stopped my salary. After realizing that these pressures had no effect on me, they opened a complaint case against me and repeatedly summoned me for interrogation, explanations, and intimidation.

Whenever the university's facilities imposed limitations, I welcomed students into my home. Even today, despite my absence at the university, many students come to my home to learn." /Khabar Online
