Yesterday, a group of families of patients with the rare disease Cystinosis gathered in front of the Ministry of Health due to the sharp price increase of the foreign medication for this disease.

The families state the price of the foreign Cystagon medicine, which has been used by patients for years and has not caused them side effects, was 200,000 Tomans with the insurance share accounted for in August of this year (August 2025) and has now reached 27 million Tomans, and the insurance share in covering the cost of the medicine is constantly decreasing.
The families have come from Tabriz, Lorestan, Dezful, Bushehr, Isfahan, Kerman, Yazd, Shiraz, Robat Karim, Karaj, and several other cities, following a call by the Cystinosis Association, to represent approximately 270 patients with this disease. Their demands are the provision of foreign eye drops, a diagnostic kit, and a reduction in the price of the foreign Cystagon medicine.
Following yesterday's gathering, a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Treatment at the Ministry of Health was held, and they were promised the formation of a meeting and follow-up on the matter.
