Mr. Mousavi's father was ill, and Mr. Khamenei went there. He sent a message that Mir Hossein went there, and they talked for three hours, convincing him to run as a candidate.

"The recent claim regarding the Leader inviting Engineer Mousavi to participate in the 2009 presidential election is not accurate. The Leader did not invite him; rather, in response to his inquiry, he said: 'I neither say come nor say do not come, but if you come and are elected, I will support you and cooperate with you.'"

Postscript: Mr. Fazeli, I understand how important this issue is to you, but I wish you would have taken a moment to respond after the full interview was released so that your response could be more comprehensive.

Now, as I mentioned last time, should this response be considered official from the Leader of the Islamic Republic or his office, or do official responses still come from Mr. Seyyed Mehrdad Seyyed Mahdi, the Public Relations Manager of Ayatollah Khamenei's office, and this is merely your personal opinion?

Mirhossein Mousavi, the candidate who protested the result of the 2009 presidential election (who is still under house arrest), described Hossein Hamdani, one of the senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (who was killed in Syria) for his role in suppressing the protests after the 2009 elections as "The shameless commander".
