The defense of the shrine, which means the protection of the believer's heart against the least inclination towards oppressors, refers to the shedding of blood in foreign lands to consolidate the foundations of the child-killing regime.

He considered "millions of immigrants and hundreds of thousands of dead in Syria, the infamy of Hezbollah in Lebanon, the emergence of ISIS, ethnic and tribal wars in Yemen, and the tendency of Arab countries to link with Israel and the slogan of the Shiite crescent" as "sinister evidence of the intentions of this perversion" and added: "The troubles caused by these measures for Iran and the region were all rooted in one big mistake, and that was to ignore the true meaning of the people's desire. People are hungry to be free and choose themselves, and this choice of theirs will be for the benefit of humanity in general, with every idea and faith, and for the benefit of national interests and people's sovereignty.

Mirhossein Mousavi mentioned the Ashura of 2009 and "the hiring of bad-tempered mobs to mutilate the youth of the people" and added: "What was the punishment for that dishonorable general who confessed and boasted about this crime, except that his life be wasted in exile as a victim of another tyrant." He called this fate "a lesson for the survivors" "to find out that the autocrat demands everything from them in exchange for the prey he lays before them".
