Dr. Sajjad Karimi (the complainant in the case) posted this judgment on his Instagram account.

With the vote of the General Assembly of the Administrative Justice Court, the requirement of being married for holding the position of mayor has been annulled.Dr. Sajad Karimi (the plaintiff in the case) shared an image of this ruling on his Instagram account, writing:In the year 1401 (2022) and in the eleventh government, for the first time, the requirement of being married was included in the regulations for the qualifications needed to hold the position of mayor. This action was explicitly contrary to some principles of the Constitution and a restriction on the freedom to choose one's profession.Although the conditions for qualification as mayor are stipulated in the amended law on the formation, duties, and elections of Islamic councils and the election of mayors and village heads, enacted in Esfand 1403 (2024), with no mention of marital status, nonetheless, the General Assembly of the Administrative Justice Court annulled the aforementioned requirement included in the cabinet's resolution.
