This issue caused some people to criticize Iran's interaction with FATF in the last one year.

The Public Relations of Iran's Financial Information Center announced in a statement:

In spite of the agreement of the Expediency Council with Iran's ratification of Palermo and CFT, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) announced in its recent report that Iran's extensive conditions on the Palermo Convention are not consistent with the standards of this group and asked the members to take countermeasures against Iran.

This issue caused some people to criticize Iran's interaction with FATF in the last one year.

Below we read a section of this statement:

The non-ratification of the Palermo and CFT conventions in the past years and the delay in joining the FATF have created heavy costs for the country.  This delay, in addition to creating legal and technical obstacles, has provided the ground for the activation of the trigger mechanism by international institutions and increased countermeasures against Iran.

Despite the approval of Palermo and CFT and the start of re-engagement with FATF, some rights of Iran are still not in line with the standards of this institution and there is a need for continuous technical and legal negotiations.  The Financial Information Center has emphasized that the interaction with FATF has been carried out technically, legally and without borders from the beginning, and its purpose is to reduce the pressures and countermeasures against the country's economy and economic activists.

Getting out of the FATF blacklist takes time, and the experience of other countries shows that even with the ratification of conventions, the process of getting out takes at least one to two years.  Creating expectations for immediate exit from the blacklist is unprofessional and uninformed.

Any delay or non-cooperation will become an excuse for more pressure from the hostile countries.  The full concentration of the country's capacities to normalize Iran's case with FATF and the accurate and fast implementation of the remaining clauses of the action plan is vital and necessary so that the country's case returns to its normal path and the economic and legal pressures are reduced.
