In the session of the Assembly [Determining expediency of the system], the issue of transferring punishments from the government to the judiciary was raised, which remained silent for a year due to the government's concerns.  

In the afternoon, Mr. [Mohammed] Yazdi, [Vaez] Tabasi, [Najfabadi] Speaker [Najfabadi] and [Ahmed] Jannati were my guests. Mr. Yazdi said that he had spoken with Mr. [Mahdi] Karroubi, [Speaker of the Majlis] about discretionary supervision in the Guardian Council;  They could not convince him.  The Guardian Council is determined to reject the last two bills.  There was talk about the possibility of Mr. Khatami [President] resigning, which some people consider this possibility to be weak.  The members of the meeting again insisted that I be ready to accept the responsibility of the presidency;  I did not accept  

In the evening [Mr. Pier Ferdinando Cazzini], the Speaker of the Italian Parliament came.  They discussed bilateral relations and the issues of Iraq, Palestine, and Afghanistan. I said that the Western plans for Palestine are incomplete, and in the case of Iraq, action should be taken to disarm it through the United Nations, and in the case of Afghanistan, it is necessary to pay more attention to [the fight against drug trafficking].  He is on leave because of his brother's death, he should not return to prison.

Mr. [Ghadrat] Khwarazmi from the bodyguards came and gave a report on the condition of Mr. [Mohammed Taqi] Tausli, another bodyguard who was imprisoned due to debt.  After investigation, they have come to the conclusion that help should be given to save him.
