Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – October 7, 1987

I was at home until eight in the morning. On the way, I went to Majlis Dentistry to have my teeth filled. At nine o'clock in the morning, the Belgian ambassador came. He said good things and I criticized the Western bloc for their new mischief in the Persian Gulf. [Mr. Donald Small] the Brazilian ambassador came. He wanted to develop relations and explained some of Brazil's situation, including more than 100 billion dollars in foreign debt.

Colonel [Mustafa Tarabi, head of the army's information protection] came and told about the problems of the army. He emphasized on the replacement of the chief of staff and the commander of Havaniroz and asked for help for the administration under his command.

Mr. [Majid] Ghasemi, the head of the Central Bank, came. He gave a report on the currency situation and asked for help to control the pressure of the military forces on the use of currency. In the afternoon, Mr. Ashtiani, the gendarmerie's political ideological officer, came. He pleaded for the shortcomings of the gendarmerie and gave a report on the work of his department.

The night of the meeting of the heads of forces was in the office of Mr. Mousavi Ardabili. Mr. [Goders] Iftikhar Jahormi came. It was discussed about the stagnation of the Hague Court and the complaint to the Security Council because of the American adventures in the Persian Gulf. The issue of the Persian Gulf and the operations of the IRGC and army naval forces were discussed. I arrived home late.
