Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – October 22, 1987

I was at home. Most of the time was spent studying. Before noon [Mr. Mirhossein Mousavi] the Prime Minister came after visiting the Imam and said that the Imam's opinion is that America should be answered in places outside of Iran. We discussed this a bit. It was decided to discuss in the meeting of the heads of forces. gave the report of the trip to Syria; is satisfied Syrians are serious in supporting the continuation of the war until the fall of Saddam. It had interesting content in this regard. They are impressed by Iran's resistance to the United States and are trying to bring Iran closer to the Eastern Bloc, and they have obtained permission to mediate between us and Saudi Arabia, and Mr. [Mohsen] Rafiq Dost has fulfilled his wishes. He explained America's message to Syria to deliver to us, which is both threatening and soft.

In the afternoon, Mr. Mohsen Rezaei informed that at eleven o'clock, a missile was fired at Al-Ahmadi oil terminal in Kuwait and news agencies reported that it hit the terminal and caused a lot of damage. I followed this until the night.

The missile attack has caused a lot of panic in the economic and political centers of the West. It is very appropriate and this is God's will. It doesn't get better than this. Both the answer of America in encroaching on our oil platforms and the answer of Kuwait - the inviter of America - who came to borrow from this American terminal and dealt another blow to the stock markets and stocks of the West, which were disturbed. Shab Mohsen came and gave a report about his work in the missile department; He sees movement.
