The most interesting part of Akbar Hashemi's daily notes is the claims of a person named Alishahi, his meeting with Hashemi, and the message to Ayatollah Khamenei regarding the events of September 11.

Full text of the daily notes:

It rained last night, and in some places, fortunately, it snowed. Dr. Baqer Larijani came and emphasized that I should use the anti-diabetes pill again; I had stopped using it for a month.

Then, a group of transplant athletes came. Their association was founded by the Special Diseases Foundation, and Fati helped them. Mr. Mohammad Ali Pour, the president of the Federation of Public Sports, gave a report and spoke about their successes in international competitions, thanking Fati, the head of the Special Diseases Foundation, for her support. I gave an encouraging speech and presented gold coins to the medal winners.

Dr. Abdullah Jasbi, the president of the Islamic Azad University, came and presented a plan for establishing a nationwide party, stating that establishing a party requires suitable positions, effective individuals, and sufficient attention. He asked me to discuss it with the leadership. I said that the Islamic Azad University should establish a strong unit to attract bright talents who are usually drawn to foreign universities.

In the afternoon, we had a meeting with the deputies and advisors of the Center for Strategic Research to discuss the possibility of a U.S. attack on Iraq. They concluded that an imminent attack was not likely at the moment. We also discussed the situation in Palestine and the crisis caused by Israel's extensive helicopter attacks on Gaza, shelling Yasser Arafat’s residence and office, and the self-governing police center, all following Ariel Sharon's return from the U.S. and America’s green light to Israel.

Regarding Afghanistan, there were updates from the Bonn Conference, with a decision that neither Burhanuddin Rabbani nor Zahir Shah would head the interim government, with figures like Abdul Sattar Sirat or Hamid Karzai likely to lead. However, the insistence of many on the need for the presence of Mujahideen forces in the government, and balancing the demands of various parties, ethnicities, and sects, has complicated the matter, and the conference will continue.

Mr. Mohammad Reza Nouri Shahroudi, who had returned from Saudi Arabia, reported that U.S. pressure on Saudi Arabia was intense, and differences among Saudi officials about accepting U.S. proposals existed. He said public opinion in Saudi Arabia supported Osama bin Laden, and Saudi media were promoting the idea of Iran-U.S. cooperation in Afghanistan.

A person named Alishahi requested a meeting through fax to share important information related to the U.S. events and military actions. He claimed to have approached the leadership and was referred by them to Mr. Hejazi. He insisted on only sharing this information with the leadership or me. After confirming his credibility, he shared insights about the September 11 events, America’s discovery of the real perpetrators three weeks after the attacks, and the significant decisions made by the U.S. and its Western allies for retaliation.

The important claim was that the September 11 attacks were orchestrated by Russia under Vladimir Putin’s supervision, using a device installed on the planes to control them remotely. He said the operatives were Zionist members of the KGB who later returned to Israel and were eventually eliminated in the Black Sea. He believed America had discovered this and would soon seek revenge against Russia. Although I found it difficult to believe, I acknowledged its potential importance for analysis.
