I could not sleep after the pre-dawn meal. I went to the Majlis at 6:30 AM and read reports until 8:00 AM. News indicates that the Palestinians have signed an agreement with opponents to withdraw their military forces from Lebanon. Hafez al-Assad has also traveled to Saudi Arabia, and it appears that the American solution is gaining traction. We spent the open session of the Majlis discussing the proposed policy framework for IRIB.

At noon, a group of members from the Culture and Islamic Guidance Commission came and raised points regarding the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance; there are provocations underlying the surface appearances.

Mr. [Morteza] Kaffashzadeh came and brought a confidential letter from the Imam addressed to the IRGC Commander, criticizing the shortcomings in executive protection and the nature of security provided for Martyr Sadooghi. In the afternoon, the Armenian prelates of Tehran, Jolfa, and Urmia visited and complained about the Supreme Council of Education's decision requiring their religious instruction to be taught in Persian and banning instruction in the Armenian language within official schools, as well as the prevention of constructing a church in Gorgan, among other issues.

Colonel Katibeh, head of the Second Bureau of the Joint Staff, came to express dissatisfaction with the staff and proposed that Colonel Salimi become Chief of Staff and Rahimi, his deputy, become Minister of Defense. A group of heads of Tehran's education departments came to complain about Mr. [Ali Akbar] Parvaresh [Minister of Education] for dismissing like-minded deputies. Mr. Gharavi also came and complained about pressure being exerted on the bazaar.

I conducted an interview with television regarding the late Martyr Sadooghi. I had Iftar at the Majlis and returned home at night.
