At half past one in the morning, I woke up to the sound of anti-aircraft fire. Fazeh, who was scared, came to my room. I did not sleep comfortably until the time of prayer. After the morning prayer, I talked to the radio and television about the quality of news broadcasts and told the missile unit to be ready to act according to the order. They said that they can repair defective missiles. Mr. [Colonel Mustafa] Torabi informed that they used F-14 refueling in a successful attack.

Ahmad Agha came and spoke about the problem of meeting Libya's demands in establishing a relationship between them and the Lebanese forces and their notoriety in the incident of the disappearance of Imam Musa Sadr and quoted the Foreign Minister that Mr. [Mohsen] Rafiq Doost has not yet achieved success in Syria.

In the evening, Mr. [Sheikh Mohammad Taqi] Falsofi and Mr. Mahdian came to see me. Mr. Philosopher praised my statements to the charge d'affaires of the French Embassy. It seems to have been accepted in various circles. I spoke from the position of power in the meeting with the French ambassador, and contrary to the usual routine and tradition, we published all the negotiations.

Mr. Ahmad also came. Their opinion was that since Saddam did not attack the cities today, it is good for us to refrain. I agreed and told Mr. Sayad [Shirazi] on the phone not to attack Basra and I also asked Mr. [Hoshang] Sediq [Air Force Commander] not to launch an air attack. Faezeh went to her house and I was left alone. We spoke on the phone with Efat and his companions in Mecca. They are fine and will be back by the end of the week.
