Full Text of the Daily Entry:

In the morning, I went to the Manzariyeh camp for the opening of a scientific conference on school construction. I visited the exhibition, which displayed samples of building materials, educational equipment, and school supplies. Mr. [Hossein] Mofazzal, the Minister of Education, welcomed me and complained about the neglect of the education budget. He believes that due to his weakening, the rights of teachers have been violated. I delivered a detailed speech on the necessity of building and renovating schools, requesting that considerations of architecture, color, light, and space be appropriate for the development of students. I also introduced large-scale school construction as one of the ways to boost the economy, which can also create jobs.

I returned to the office. Mr. [Mohammad Ali] Izyazi from Qom came. He said that the Special Clerical Court had informed Ayatollah Montazeri’s home that his son, Saeed, would be released soon, but there has been no news yet. He brought a sample of anti-revolutionary books from abroad.

In the afternoon, I was a guest of Mr. [Seyyed Mohammad] Khatami, the President. He expressed concern that, given the leader’s thoughts, he wouldn’t be able to accomplish anything significant for economic revival and mentioned he wants to appoint Faizeh as the [Vice President and head of the] Physical Education Organization, to which I replied that it is not appropriate. We discussed parts of the cabinet. I emphasized that he should think of ways to boost the economy, as the markets for household appliances, textiles, poultry, and livestock are sluggish, and foreign products are putting considerable pressure on domestic products. The competitiveness of our products in the export market is low, and there is also a lack of investment security.

In the evening, I had an interview with Mohammad Sadegh Al-Hosseini regarding the foreign policy of the regime. Mr. Behzad Nabavi, a representative from Tehran, came. He spoke about the differences between the second-Khordad groups and the leadership, offering suggestions to resolve the issues. He stated that he disagrees with the leader’s intervention in the investigation of the [State Broadcasting Organization], although he has solved the problem
