Hashemi's Account of the Impact of Domestic and Foreign Media on Ali Afshari's Interview with State Television

It is noteworthy that Ali Afshari, a member of the Central Council of the Office for Strengthening Unity (Allameh faction), later wrote a letter to the then head of the Judiciary, stating that he had been subjected to beatings, insults, sleep deprivation, forced standing against the wall, and threats of various forms of torture.

In further detail about his interrogation experience, Afshari wrote: He had been held in solitary confinement for 128 days, subjected to beatings and offensive insults while blindfolded, experiencing constant and extensive sleep deprivation. He also mentioned the circumstances surrounding his television interview: After a tumultuous 45-day period of pressure and deprivation, he reluctantly agreed to the interview, during which the judge explicitly stated that this interview would only be used by the interrogation team or authorities and would not be broadcasted in public media. However, on the day of the interview, he unexpectedly encountered well-known journalist Fallah and the film crew from state television, and he stated that the words he expressed were not his actual statements but rather the will and demands of the interrogation team.

In Israel, a Palestinian martyr detonated a bomb among Israeli crowds, resulting in his death and the deaths of seven Zionists, with several others injured, some in critical condition. The Israeli government held an extraordinary meeting, requesting intervention from the United States to quell the violence; they are exhibiting a sense of desperation, and military commanders have stated that they can no longer contain the Palestinians.

In the United States, President George Bush proposed a plan to address the energy crisis currently affecting California. The plan involves increased reliance on coal, nuclear power plants, and drilling oil wells in the protected area of Alaska to produce more energy. However, environmentalists have ridiculed the plan, stating it is akin to setting fire to household items to solve space issues, deeming the proposals disastrous, although industrialists and oil cartels have supported it.

The European Union has approved a gradual expansion of relations with Iran. Foreign and anti-revolutionary media are making significant efforts to neutralize the impact of Ali Afshari's interview.
