I spent the morning studying for my sermon. I led Friday prayers at the University of Tehran, discussing ethics, weekly events, the Third Development Plan, and calls for unity. In the afternoon, some of the family gathered. [Azra Masoumi] Lahouti, [the wife of Ayatollah Hassan Lahouti and mother-in-law of Fati and Fa’ezeh], sent kebab torsh for lunch, a very delightful dish.

I advised Fa’ezeh not to attend gatherings like the one held recently by the publishers of Asr-e Azadegan newspaper. She had participated two days ago, where they protested the trial of Mr. [Ma'shaallah] Shamsolvaezin and Mr. [Abdullah Nouri], the editor-in-chief of Khordad newspaper. Fa’ezeh also had questions about Mr. Nouri's new positions, especially regarding the dismissal of Ayatollah Montazeri by Imam [Khomeini]. During that time, Mr. Nouri sided with the leftist faction, applying significant pressure against Ayatollah Montazeri, and was aware of the authenticity of Imam Khomeini’s letter dated 6/1/68.

There was some snow last night in Jamaran, and today it rained. The European Union fact-finding mission, which had traveled to Chechnya, was blocked by Russia and returned to Europe, increasing the media pressure on Russia. In Turkey and Greece, protests have erupted against the visit of U.S. President [Bill Clinton] to these countries.
