Akbar Hashemi’s Account of Moshe Katsav’s Election as President of Israel

Moshe Katsav, also known as Mashallah Kasab, born in 1945 in the village of Khuydek, Yazd, served as the eighth President of the State of Israel from 2000 until July 15, 2007.

He immigrated to Israel with his family in 1951.

On October 15, 2006, the Israeli police claimed to have sufficient evidence to charge him with sexual assault and illegal wiretapping.

Subsequently, the Attorney General of Israel offered him the opportunity to resign, but he refused, maintaining his innocence.

In 2011, an Israeli court convicted him of violent sexual assault and sexual harassment, sentencing him to seven years in prison.

I was at home. They brought documents from the office. I spent time studying ethics for the Friday prayer. It was announced that an Iranian Jew from Yazd, named Moshe Kasab, has been elected President of Israel. At noon, Kazem brought food from Fa'ezeh’s house: beef stew. Last night, Yasser brought food: sandwiches. Efat and Fatie went to London for medical treatment.
