Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called Tabriz the "spiritual geography" of the Turkish world at a press conference after a cabinet meeting at Ankara's Beştepe complex. These remarks have been echoed by the official Turkish state media.
In this meeting, Erdogan also referred to the battle of Çanakkala and claimed: "From Syria to Gaza, from Aleppo to Tabriz, from Mosul to Jerusalem, the martyrs from the four corners of our spiritual geography are resting together in Çanakkala."
