A banana, which is a conceptual artwork called "The Comedian" with tape glued to the wall of the Sotheby's Art Auction Center in New York, sold for $6.2 million in an auction on Wednesday, November 21.
The work was created by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan and had an initial price of between $1 million and $1.5 million. Justin Sun, a Chinese-born crypto entrepreneur who was able to buy the work from seven competitors in the auction, has said that he plans to eat the banana in the coming days.
