A while ago, a clip showcasing the verbal blunders and gaffes of Major General Ismail Qaani, the commander of the Quds Force of the IRGC, was widely circulated on social media. I suspect that this clip might have been created by his opponents, or rather, by those opposed to the Islamic Republic; the clip compiled his gaffes during a speech (First Clip).
Today, when almost all official news agencies of the Islamic Republic released a clip of the gaffes from the recent press conference of Prince Reza Pahlavi (Second Clip), the previous clip came to mind.
I don’t intend to speculate on which side created which clips against the other, as opponents of the Islamic Republic are not only the monarchists, and likewise, the opponents of the monarchists are not only the Islamic Republic. Therefore, I am not engaging in a dispute over this matter.
Opponents use similar methods for defamation, and there is no logic for dialogue to achieve a prosperous Iran.
A respectable adversary is someone who critiques your ideas and words, not your personality. Everyone claims to care deeply for Iran’s land and people! So, work together with them.
When faced with the question of why mockery, rather than critique of ideas and discourse for the betterment of the country, is so eagerly bought, I can only think that the remnants of colonialism are still visible on the sun-scorched body of Iran; still vivid and identifiable.
