I am one of the opponents of not issuing motorcycle licenses to women, and I am concerned about why women motorcyclists are denied licenses.
The Secretary of the Fiqh Working Group of the Women’s Studies Association, in an interview with Iran, said:
“I am one of the opponents of not issuing motorcycle licenses to women, and I criticize the fact that women motorcyclists are denied licenses. In my view, if a woman can obtain a Class One driving license and operate heavy vehicles, or even fly planes and steer ships, why is she not allowed to get a motorcycle license?
From my perspective, based on the Fiqh and Qur’anic sources I have studied, there is no religious prohibition against it.
If a woman rides a motorcycle with appropriate conditions and attire, there is no religious barrier, and I am among those who request that this issue be reviewed so that women motorcyclists can receive licenses.”
