The bodies of Hamid and Hadi, two Iranian asylum seekers who were shot dead by a French assailant in the protected area of the Lone Plage camp in the port of Dunkirk on 14 December 2024, returned home in the late hours of Friday, 1 February.
On the twentieth day of uncertainty in the Lone Plage camp, Hamid and Hadi, two of their refugee-seeking friends, were walking on the edge of the forest and near the road next to the camp, when Paul Dumis, a 22-year-old French-born attacker, ended Hamid and Hadi's lives by shooting them to death, putting an end to all hopes and dreams. The first news about the tragedy was published by Sky News in the evening of the same day.
