Isfahan Court of Appeals sentenced to imprisonment by Mehdi Moghadari,

The Isfahan Court of Appeals upheld the prison sentence of Mehdi Moghadari, the former secretary general of the Justice and Freedom Organization of Islamic Iran, and a researcher and writer in the field of governance and democracy.

Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Isfahan had sentenced Moghadari to one year in prison as the main punishment on the charge of propaganda against the state, as well as a supplementary punishment to a ban on leaving the country, a ban on activities in cyberspace, and a two-year ban on activities in groups and parties, a decision that was upheld by Judge Dayani in the Isfahan Court of Appeals.

A person close to Moghadari told reporters: "There is no evidence of propaganda against the system in the verdict and it is not clear what the judges' reasoning was."

In 2022, Moghadari was also arrested by the Isfahan General Intelligence Directorate for publishing the text of his books on social media.

This author has more than ten books in the field of governance and democracy. The book "Good Governance and Development" by Moghadari received the first book of the year award of the Mehdi Bazargan Foundation.
