Today, April 26, is an opportunity to recognize the pilots, the backbone of the aviation industry, who make air travel possible and safe with their knowledge, experience, and courage. This day was introduced to the world calendar at the suggestion of the International Federation of Pilots (IFALPA) in honor of the first official flight of the Turkish pilot "Fethi Bey" in 1912.
International Pilot's Day is a good time to emphasize the key role of the women and men behind the wheel of iron birds, the lives and safety of millions of passengers.
