Water wastage in the network is more than the total consumption of Tehran! / 32 percent of the country's drinking water is wasted / There is a smell of corruption in the transfer of seawater.

Seyed Hashem Orouji, a professor at Sharif University of Technology, said in an interview with Somayeh Baghi, a reporter for Rokna: The situation of water in the country has reached a point where the amount of physical water loss in the drinking water network is 1.35 billion cubic meters annually. Meanwhile, the total consumption of drinking water in Tehran is 1.2 billion cubic meters. In fact, the condition of the drinking water distribution network in the country is so bad that we have more water loss than the total consumption of Tehran. This is while, according to officials and policymaking authorities, spending on reducing this loss is not economically justified, but desalinating water and transferring it from the sea to the eastern regions of the country, at a cost of about 5 dollars per cubic meter, is considered economically justified! We spend huge amounts of money on transferring sea water, but we are not willing to invest to prevent water loss. Because there is a smell of corruption in transferring sea water.
