According to reports from the Department of Environment, the Damavand leopard, which was taken alive in one of the villages two months ago, was infected with feline coronavirus. The news of his death was announced by the Environment Agency. Last year, after the death of the famous Iranian cheetah, Ali Salajegheh, the former head of the Environment Organization, said, "We do not have a veterinarian for non-domestic animals in the Environment Organization," a statement that indicates a serious problem in meeting the veterinary needs of wild animals.

In this regard, Issa Kalantari, the former head of the Environment Organization, said: "The lack of veterinarians specializing in wildlife is one of the most important factors in the emergence of these problems in recent revivals." He said: "The current veterinarians have mainly received training in domestic animals such as cattle and sheep and do not have enough expertise to treat wild animals."

In Iran, there are no veterinary specialists with a focus on wildlife in the Department of Environment, and this lack of expertise causes injured or sick animals to not be properly treated after being revived and lose their natural life.
