Do leopards in Iran kill each other? / An expert: Leopard conflict-related casualties are not documented

Ahmadzadeh, associate professor at the Environmental Sciences Research Institute of Shahid Beheshti University, commented on the claim made by the Department of Environment:

 "The claim that conflict between leopards causes casualties is just a statement and is not documented. It’s possible that conflict could result in casualties, but these statements are not backed by evidence."

 "We don't have many leopards, so even with habitat destruction, conflicts are unlikely. I can't accept conflict between leopards as a reliable reason for casualties."

 "Sometimes, in winter, wildlife comes closer to cities. When their habitats are destroyed, these creatures become displaced, and accidents may occur. I don’t know what the basis is for the claim that conflict between leopards caused casualties. Why was this never reported before? Why did all casualties related to conflict occur suddenly in 2024?" / Jamaran
