Using the pretext of a shocking image of the capital engulfed in smoke! Tehran; a gas chamber or a city of effort and vitality?!

Mohammad Jafari: If you take a quick look at the images included in this note, you will definitely be shocked and astonished. An image of the sky engulfed in smoke and pollution over the 15-million-strong city of Tehran, captured from the city today (Thursday), November 19, 2025.

According to the announcement of the Tehran Air Quality Control Company, the average air quality of the capital is now (November 19) in "unhealthy for sensitive groups" conditions.

An index that has become almost every day for the air that the residents of the capital breathe, and as if the head of a needle is not important among the decision-making officials.

Also, according to the report of the Tehran Air Quality Control Company, the average air quality in Tehran in the last 24 hours with the pollutant index of suspended particles smaller than 2.5 microns is 103, which is unhealthy for sensitive groups.

The average air quality is currently 133 with the pollutant index of suspended particles smaller than 2.5 microns and in unhealthy conditions for sensitive groups.

Since the beginning of this year, the air quality of the capital has been in clean condition for 6 days, acceptable for 123 days, unhealthy for sensitive groups for 103 days, unhealthy for 8 days, very unhealthy for 2 days, and dangerous for 2 days.

Air quality index (AQI) is divided into 6 main categories.  Based on this division, from zero to 50 air is "clean", from 51 to 100 is "acceptable or moderate", from 101 to 150 is "unhealthy for sensitive groups", from 151 to 200 is "unhealthy", from 201 to 300 is "very unhealthy" and from 301 to 500 is "dangerous" air quality conditions.

The question is whether Mr. Zakani and the residents of Behesht Building have no idea about this deplorable situation or they have no reason to think of a solution in order to at least solve this tragedy?

A municipality that, due to performing its obvious, inherent and even mundane tasks, such as asphalting and resurfacing city roads, on the eve of city council elections, installs wide and long banners on city billboards and tries to bless the citizens with the slogan "The municipality paved from Tehran to Seoul";  Do you have any opinion about this image and the depth of the tragedy hidden in it?

It is certain that;  At least one of the inherent duties of the officials in the field of urban management - be it the municipality or the 6th city council of the capital - who today captured the billboards and fences of the city's construction projects with the slogan "Tehran, the city of effort and vitality", is to deal with the situation that has turned the capital of the country into a gas chamber and every day several innocent lives are sacrificed to it, God knows!

A situation that without a doubt, if the current trend continues and with the colder weather in the colder days of late autumn and winter, will take on a more alarming and formidable form.
