In a video published by him, Mr. Talaie can be seen exercising on a treadmill in the sports hall. Critics have pointed to the actions of the former police chief of Tehran in setting up the morality police, and accused him of not adhering to the principles he advocates.
Abdullah Abdi, the editor of the independent media Abdi Media, which published the video, provided an audio file to BBC Farsi, which includes his conversation with Mr. Talaie after the video was published. In this audio file, Mr. Abdi asks Mr. Talaie how he traveled to Canada despite introducing himself as a "provincial soldier". In response, the former police chief of Tehran says, "He gives his every cell for the regime and the revolution.”
He also said in an interview with Didbaniran that his trip to Canada is a "personal matter" and the purpose of publishing the video is to hit "people's trust" towards him.
