Mohammad Javad Zarif's resignation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to Ishaq Jahangiri

  On March 2017, Bashar Assad came to Iran in an unannounced visit, but Mr. Zarif, as the foreign minister, was not informed about this incident, and the next morning I found out that he resigned for this reason.

I talked to Mr. Vaezi about this. Apparently, Sardar Soleimani will inform the President that we will come to meet you with one person at 11 o'clock.  But the president's office did not know who was Sardar Soleimani's guest?

And for this reason, they do not inform the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Zarif resigns when he learns about the matter.  After learning about the details, I talked to Zarif on the phone, he was very angry and said that they want to show the world that I am useless.

He was very upset and angry with the people who did not coordinate this meeting in the leadership's office, the president's office and his own office and he was not informed.

As expected, the news of Zarif's resignation quickly exploded like a bomb in domestic and foreign political and media circles.  His resignation, who was at the forefront of the wide-ranging negotiations between Iran and the West, sent different and contradictory messages.  In the evening of the same day, it was reported that Mr. Rouhani, who met with the Prime Minister of Armenia in Saadabad, has opposed Zarif's resignation.

In response to Zarif's resignation, Mr. Rouhani stressed the need for cooperation of all institutions with the diplomatic apparatus and expressed his sincere appreciation for Zarif's performance and asked him to continue his path "with strength, courage and tact".  Later, I found out that Sardar Soleimani wrote a letter to Zarif or gave explanations in person to clear up the confusion.
