Mahmoud Sadeghi's account of a phone call after the fall of Assad/The nature of the Baathist regime cannot be compared with the Islamic Republic regime/Let's allow political analysts to explain the reality

Mahmoud Sadeghi, Secretary General of the Islamic Association of University Teachers, announced on the information base of this organization that an official from the Ministry of Information contacted him about the comment regarding the events in Syria and added: "This call prompted me to use this excuse to raise the alarm for the top officials of the system and warn about the effects and consequences of this practice." 

Of course, the nature of the Baathist regime emerging from the Syrian coup cannot be compared with the Islamic Republic regime emerging from an anti-authoritarian popular revolution, but similarities can be seen in some of the behaviors and practices implemented, including the same type of behavior and view of the intelligence and security apparatus. 

I pointed out to that respected security officer that while the leadership in the recent presidential election has created a window of hope for reforming policies and creating openness in people's lives, the relations of the governing bodies with the elected president, including in inquiries for managerial changes, should not be such that people feel that their vote has no influence on the process of affairs. 

I humbly warned the officer that people's trust in the electoral system would be further damaged by these practices, and that it is in these behaviors that people see some similarities with the overthrown Syrian regime. 

I told that honorable officer that in the era of information explosion, public opinion at the bottom of society understands and analyzes the realities much ahead of political activists, let's let political analysts analyze and explain this reality from different angles instead of securing this issue./Jamaran
