With the issuance of the command to move towards the Pahlavi tomb, the people mobilized.

Memories of Khalkhali in Ordibehesht:

With the issuance of the command to move towards the Pahlavi tomb, the people mobilized.

They tried very hard in the initial minutes, but it became apparent that the tomb was built so solidly that no shovel or pickaxe could do any work on it. Eventually, the work required a grader, bulldozer, crane, and powerful mechanical equipment.

It was around 4 PM when a message came from Banisadr, stating that we should stop the destruction of the tomb. I didn't pay attention, but the head of the Ministry of the Interior, Mohammad Reza Mahdavi Kani, wrote an official letter and announced that the order was from the Revolutionary Council and personally from the President, and that we must cease the destruction by any means necessary, otherwise we would have to act according to the regulations, meaning we would arrest you.

Mr. Haj Ahmad Agha Khomeini came to see the tomb and, in fact, to bolster my spirit. He encouraged the people stationed there and with this act, he made it clear that the Imam did not oppose the destruction of the tomb, and this immensely strengthened us.Finally, night fell, but we could not lay the tomb to rest, although we caused significant damage to it and turned it into ruins.
