درگذشت آیت‌الله طالقانی، خوش‌موقع یا بدموقع؟ روایتی عجیب از برکات یک مرگ

Republished on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of Ayatollah Taleghani's death

Mr. Beheshti was very sad when he heard the news of Taleghani's death and, according to Badamchian, he could not speak for a few minutes and then said: "Wow!  Wow!  It was very bad!  He was responsible for things that no one else can do for the revolution."  But some also interpreted the death of Ayatollah Taleghani as very timely.
The late Seyyed Moniruddin Hosseini, one of the influential members of the Assembly of Constitutional Experts, in his memoirs, referring to the death of Ayatollah Taleghani, said: "His departure brought blessings for this country and the Constitution, as well as for the great man himself."
On 19th of Shahrivar 58, Ayatollah Taleghani passed away and on 21st of Shahrivar, Article 5, one of the most challenging principles of the Constitution regarding the legal authority, was approved in the 15th session of the Assembly of Constitutional Experts.

In the memoirs of Seyyed Muniruddin Hosseini, who was an active member of the Assembly of Constitutional Law Experts, especially in discussions related to the legal authority, the opposition of people such as Hojjati Kermani, Bani Sadr and others to the principle of legal authority is mentioned.  According to his account, Hojjati Kermani said to Muniruddin: "You want to rule the black tyranny over this country again."  Next, Muniruddin says: "The late Taleghani can be mentioned among other opponents of the name."  Moniruddin believed that if Ayatollah Taleghani until the approval of the constitution and in all its debates;  "They were alive, maybe it was difficult to move forward."  He believed that Ayatollah Taleghani's way of working was different from other opponents;  "He tried to bring the excitement of the Majlis into the society and bring it to the level of the mass of people."

He further referred to the words of Ayatollah Taleghani against the Assembly of Experts in the last sermon of the Friday prayer before his death and wrote that Ayatollah Taleghani said: "Gentlemen are sewing robes that fit their stature."  Of course, this sentence is not in the last sermon of Ayatollah Taleghani, and Munir al-Din probably heard this sentence in another place.
Ayatollah Taleghani emphasized on the activity of the Council and the presence of the people in power, and in his last sermon on 16 Shahrivar 58, he touched on the same issue:
"Hundreds of times I have said that the issue of the Shura is one of the most fundamental issues of Islam, even he told his Prophet with that greatness to consult with these people, give them personality, let them know that they are responsible, not to rely on the leader, but not that they did not.  I know why they didn't, they are still debating in the assembly of experts, in this basic principle of the Qur'an, how it should be implemented: should, maybe, or can they?  No, this is an Islamic principle.  It means that all people from home and life and units should consult each other in their work... Maybe some of our friends will say, sir, why are you raising these issues among the masses of people?  Come to the assembly of experts!  I am saying that among your clients, they are the ones who made us lawyers... We must compensate for the pains, thoughts, miseries, discomforts, and delays of these people.  With the saving and life-giving laws of Islam.  We hope that we will all be aware.  Individuals, individuals, accept responsibility and implement these huge Islamic issues, put aside self-opinion and selfishness, groupism, opportunism and the imposition of beliefs or, God forbid, tyranny under the veil of religion, and let's come with the people, with the suffering, with the suffering.  Let's join in with the deprived."

Moniruddin was worried that Taleghani would bring other issues to the people, and after mentioning Taleghani's attack to the Majlis of Experts, he said in his last sermon: "My opinion is that if his lifeline had not been broken, it is very likely that the people would have  It creates a scene and incites them against the approvals of experts and the principles of the Constitution.

The memoirs of Seyyed Muniruddin Hosseini Shirazi have been published by the Islamic Revolution Documentation Center.
