The fall of the Amouzegar government and the premiership of Sharif-Emami.

On September 5, 1978, Jamshid Amouzegar resigned and was replaced by Jafar Sharif-Emami. Sharif-Emami called his government the "national reconciliation government" and tried to calm the protests. He took symbolic actions, including changing the official calendar back to the solar Hijri calendar. However, these measures failed to stop the crisis, and the protests only grew, leading to his government's eventual downfall .
