Memoirs of Akbar Hashemi – May 11, 1982

At 7:30, I went to the public session. The bill for the nationalization of foreign trade was approved. After the recess, I left the management of the session to Mr. Mohammad Mousavi Khoeiniha. The mining bill was discussed. I did not participate in the session and worked on pending tasks in my office.

I received information from the fronts. We have tightened the siege of Khorramshahr and have advanced slightly from the border into Iraq.

At noon, Engineer Mehdi Bazargan and Dr. Ebrahim Yazdi came and complained about the pressure from the Hezbollahis on them and sought a solution. I told them that the people consider you as collaborators with Bani Sadr and the hypocrites [MKO], so naturally they react. If you truly accept the Islamic Republic and do not accept them, take a stance, otherwise we cannot do anything. I told them that your behavior is such that if, hypothetically, Bani Sadr were to return, you could work with him; you are mistaken.

In the evening, the Islamic Association of Telecommunications group came and complained about the minister. Then I had a television interview about the Cultural Revolution, and a group of people from Tehran Province came, and I gave a speech for them. Mr. Reza Amrollahi, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization, came and, while giving a report on the continuation of the Bushehr power plant work, sought our approval.

At night, I came home. My mother, sisters, and relatives were our guests.
