A senior member of the security team of Hojat al-Islam and the Muslims, Seyyed Mohammad Khatami, told Jamaran reporter during his presidency: "The bodyguard was not a member of Mr. Khatami's security team and was part of the physical security forces of the presidential building."

He wanted to assassinate Mr. Khatami on the eve of his trip to France (November 1999). His plan was to assassinate Mr. Khatami in the vicinity of the presidential building when Mr. Khatami returns to the office from the leadership's residence after meeting with the leader - which was done on the eve of the trip.

After we were informed of such an intention through one of the Taqlid authorities and the mentioned person was identified, we sent him on incentive leave.

However, during the same period of leave, when Mr. Mohajerani's ministry continued and some groups were against the policies of his tenure, he detonated a sound bomb in front of the Lorestan Department of Culture and Islamic Guidance located in Khorram Abad and was arrested.
