Mahsa Amini's mother wrote: "Oh God, what a custom and practice is this, that your daughter, draped in her long cloak with her scarf covering her, is caught by the dark-hearted ones who could not bear to see the beauty of their homeland's daughter? They will become eternally disgraced in history."

Ms. Ekhtihari continued, "If there is breath, it is in the name and memory of the sisters and brothers who sacrificed their warm blood for the oppression and loneliness of others, and I have dedicated the names and memories of those who became like Zhina and Mahsa in Iran and the world to my radiant Mahsa for eternity, may their names be blessed."

Some news sources reported that on September 25, coinciding with the second anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death in 2021, which sparked the "Women, Life, Freedom" protests, Mahsa Amini's family was not allowed to leave their home.
