The confirmation of a 6-year prison sentence for gathering, conspiracy, and propaganda activities against the regime.

The appeals court issued a ruling in the case of Elaheh Mohammadi, a reporter for the Ham Mihan newspaper. According to the journalist's lawyer, Branch 31 of the Tehran Appeals Court acquitted Elaheh Mohammadi of the charge of collaborating with a hostile foreign government, but upheld the issued sentence regarding two other charges: a 5-year prison sentence for gathering and conspiracy against national security and a 1-year prison sentence for propaganda activities against the regime.

Shahabeddin Mirloohi, Elaheh Mohammadi's lawyer, stated:

"After appealing the conviction of Elaheh Mohammadi, the reporter for Ham Mihan newspaper, the case was referred for reconsideration to Branch 31 of the Tehran Appeals Court, which ultimately acquitted Elaheh Mohammadi of the charge of collaborating with a hostile foreign government. However, the sentence regarding the two remaining charges—5 years in prison for gathering and conspiracy against national security and 1 year in prison for propaganda activities against the regime—was upheld, and this ruling was referred to the First Branch of the Criminal Enforcement Court of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office of District 33 for execution on July 7 of this year. The final ruling was communicated to the lawyers. According to the ruling of the appeals court, the harsher sentence (i.e., the 5-year prison sentence) is enforceable."

He continued:

"Given that the two remaining charges meet the complete conditions of the 2022 amnesty directive, we hope that Elaheh Mohammadi will be granted amnesty and this case will be concluded with the issuance of a suspension order." / Ham Mihan
