Iran's agreement to buy medicine and food through Qatar

One of the released Iranian prisoners is a woman

Citing the statements of Iranian and Western informed sources who were in the course of indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington with the mediation of Qatar on the issue of prisoner exchange, the Reuters news agency provided details about the transfer of Iranian money from South Korean banks to Qatar. which was agreed as part of these negotiations regarding the release of these funds.

51-year-old Siamak Namazi, 59-year-old Emad Sharqi, and 67-year-old Murad Tahbaz, who also has British citizenship, are among these people. The identity of the fourth and fifth prisoners, one of whom, according to two informed sources, is a woman, has not been revealed.

Three informed sources in Doha will pay the bank fees by applying financial measures and monitoring how the money released by Iran is spent so that it is not used for non-sanctioned purposes.

A senior diplomat said that Iran initially wanted direct access to these funds, but later agreed to access through Qatar. Iran buys food and medicine and Qatar directly pays for it.

If there are no problems in the implementation of the program, the transfer of money to Qatari banks is supposed to be done by the beginning of next week. Reuters was unable to identify these banks.

As soon as the money arrives from South Korea to Qatar via Switzerland, the Qatari authorities will guide Tehran and Washington to move forward with the process of releasing the prisoners, which was agreed upon in a document signed by the parties and Qatar in late July or early August. ISNA
