This issue has been so significant that the special investigator handling the case against the Zaviyeh Financial Group, during the course of extensive investigations, has addressed this regulatory shortcoming and, through judicial orders:

First: Requested the protection unit of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance to prepare a workflow and bring it to the attention of Akrami, the Treasurer General of the country, and the then acting Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, so that the matter, in the event of a legal vacuum, could be raised and decided upon in the Supreme Council for Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing.

Second: Inquired about the matter from the secretariat of the Money and Credit Council (the current High Supervisory Board).

Result:

1- The first letter and proposal remain unclear to this day (over a year)!!! They either did not want to address this major weakness of the lack of oversight by the Financial Information Center over this chaotic money laundering market!

2- The secretariat of the High Supervisory Board of the Central Bank has also, to this day (about a year and a half since this judicial inquiry), not deemed it appropriate to announce its expert opinion!

Of course, you are aware that with the ruling of His Excellency Dr. Amin Toiserkani, the respected head of Branch 1035 of the Tehran Criminal Court 2, the Zaviyeh Financial Group and its sole defendant, Mohsen Eskandari-Nia, were essentially acquitted of the charge of money laundering.

Oversight in the country is a joke.
