Following your recent note regarding the censorship of Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani's memoirs, we would like to inform you that, as announced last year by Engineer Hashemi, the head of the Board of the Office for the Publication of Revolutionary Ideals, since the beginning of the current government, Ayatollah Hashemi's memoirs have been subject to censorship by the Ministry of Culture, and without this censorship, a permit for printing and publication is not issued.

However, through the efforts and negotiations of this office, attempts have been made to reduce the number and volume of censored items. We hope that in the coming years, like in previous periods, these memoirs will be available to interested readers without censorship.

However, I reiterate that AbdolMedia does not publish anything without fully verified information, and self-censorship and other forms of censorship are entirely separate issues.

I am fully aware that the diaries from 1360 are first edited, and later, the diaries from subsequent years are also presented. An initial version was directly provided to Ayatollah Khamenei during Hashemi's lifetime, and afterward, not to the Leader's Office but to the Office for the Preservation of Ayatollah Khamenei's Works, where any concerns would be addressed in the final version. Moreover, the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance's censorship, which here can be referred to as "other censorship," is unavoidable under the current structure of the country.

However, my note pertains to another overlooked issue.

The diaries from earlier years, especially 1367 and 1368, were self-censored by Hashemi himself, often referenced in the introductions as "close to zero."

After Akbar Hashemi's passing, the initial versions were reviewed by Mohsen Hashemi and his advisory team, and at times, Hashemi's exact phrases were also adjusted. This fact is indisputable, and I prefer not to mention the details at this time.

This action, which involves adjusting, deleting, and altering words—sometimes referred to as "self-censorship"—is a betrayal of Hashemi and contemporary history.
