We were guests of Mr. Khatami with the heads of the branches. Dr. Rouhani and Mr. Kharrazi were also present. They explained the resolution of the Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council regarding reducing human rights problems in Iran, in order to prevent the reissuance of a resolution against Iran in the United Nations.

Today, the Assembly of Experts for Leadership had a meeting. We approved three maritime contracts with three countries, which had been criticized by the Guardian Council, in favor of the parliament's view. However, we requested the president, the speaker of the parliament, and the secretary of the Guardian Council to coordinate the policies of the contracts in a meeting to ensure that there are no provisions criticized by the Guardian Council. We also discussed the general guidelines for monitoring the implementation of the general policies. It was decided to continue the discussion after receiving feedback from the heads of government and parliament.

In the afternoon, gentlemen [Abbas Vaez] Tabasi, [Ahmad] Jannati, [Mohammad Ali] Mohaddi [Kermani], and [Ghorban Ali] Dorrie [Najafabadi] were my guests. Discussions were held about the upcoming elections and also about solving the country's economic problems.In the evening, I had an interview with the Syrian news agency about the personality of Hafez al-Assad and met with Ahmed Jibril, [the leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine]. He provided an analysis of the situation in Palestine and said that there is no way left but for suicide operations, and that Saudi Arabia is thinking about condemning the suicide operations that would lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, while Syria is against condemning the suicide operations. He said that Bashar al-Assad, [the President of Syria], stated that he had a confrontation on the same issue with Prince Abdullah, [the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia], at the Sharm el-Sheikh meeting.

Ahmad Jabriyeh also said that Palestinians outside of Palestine will gradually emulate the martyrs in Palestine in suicide jihad. He mentioned that his son 'Jihad', who was martyred due to Israeli plots in Lebanon, was involved in sending weapons to the mujahideen inside Palestine. He said that your speech at the conference had a significant impact on strengthening the mujahideen.Last night, we were guests of Mr. [Seyed Mohammad] Khatami along with the heads of the powers. The U.S. has stated that tensions between India and Pakistan have subsided.
